Costume hire terms
The rules for hiring a costume: booking, deposit, return and the unexpected.
01Purpose
These terms and conditions govern the costume hire offered by La Casa du Cosplay (“the hirer”) to any individual or organisation (“the customer”). Any booking implies their full acceptance.
02Booking
Requests are made through the website’s quote form or by email. The hirer confirms availability and sends a quote. The booking becomes firm upon receipt of the accepted quote and a deposit of 30% of the hire price.
03Prices
Prices are those stated on the quote, per day or per weekend. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code. Any shipping costs are payable by the customer and stated on the quote.
04Security deposit
A security deposit, shown on the costume page and on the quote, is required at collection by cheque, bank transfer or card pre-authorisation. It is returned within 7 days of the costume being returned and checked, less any charges under the “Late return” and “Damage and loss” clauses.
05Hire period
- Day hire: collection on the day from 10 am, return the next day before noon.
- Weekend hire: collection on Friday after 4 pm, return on Monday before noon.
06Collection and return
Collection and return are by appointment at collection address. The costume’s condition is recorded jointly at collection and return, with photographs. Postal delivery may be offered at the customer’s cost and risk.
07Use and care
The customer must use the costume carefully and for its intended purpose, and must not alter, wash, dye, lend or sublet it. Professional cleaning is included in the price; unusual stains (heavy make-up, fake blood, paint) may incur a specific cleaning charge.
08Late return
Any late return not agreed in advance is charged one extra day of hire per day of delay, after an unanswered reminder.
09Damage and loss
The customer is responsible for the costume from collection to return. Damage beyond normal wear is charged at the actual repair cost. In the event of loss, theft or irreparable damage, the costume is charged at its replacement value, up to the value stated on the quote. The deposit is retained accordingly; any excess remains payable.
10Cancellation
- Cancellation by the customer more than 7 days before collection: the deposit is refunded, less a €10 handling fee.
- Cancellation by the customer less than 7 days before collection: the deposit is retained by the hirer.
- Cancellation by the hirer: all sums paid are refunded in full.
11Liability and safety
The customer uses the costume at their own risk. Some costumes (mascots, masks) reduce visibility and feel hot: the customer must arrange a minder, breaks and enough water. The hirer cannot be held liable for damage resulting from improper use.
12Right of withdrawal
To be reviewed. For consumers, hiring a costume for a specific date may fall under the exceptions to the right of withdrawal set out in article L.221-28 of the French Consumer Code. Otherwise, a 14-day withdrawal period applies to distance contracts.
13Personal data
Data needed for the hire is processed in line with the website’s privacy policy.
14Disputes
In the event of a disagreement, the customer is invited to contact the hirer first at lacasaducosplay@gmail.com to find an amicable solution.
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, disputes will be brought before the competent courts.
